UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD’S ‘WATERWORLD – A LIVE SEA WAR SPECTACULAR’ BRINGS BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE SURGING TO LIFE
Universal City, California—Inspired by the eerie-futuristic mist-shrouded netherworld of the Kevin Costner adventure film, “WaterWorld -- A Live Sea War Spectacular” features thrilling live action stunts, state-of-the-art pyrotechnics and awe-inspiring flame and complex human stunt work performed in an explosive blockbuster arena.
“WaterWorld – A Live Sea War Spectacular” involves “sling-shotting” world champion jet skiers and hundreds of stunts and fiery special effects including giant fireballs rising 50 feet in the air, cascading to earth in a spectacular wall of flames and a seaplane that swoops in directly above the audience, skidding across the water, coming to an explosive crash, landing just inches away from startled spectators in grand finale-style.
Roving pirates of the flooded future, led by the Hellfire Gunboat, a menacing bullet-spraying vehicle of doom, swarm about forcing guests to take cover as the action of the film comes to life. Amidst pulsating alarms, sweeping fish nets and blinding flares blasting through the air, high-pressure water cannons explode massive streams of sea water past the audience, taking aim at looming hover craft and jet skis.
To access the live show, guests travel through a shadowy netherworld featuring a stunning collection of actual sets and props from the movie. As they enter WaterWorld, they emerge in another century, after the polar ice caps have melted and are stranded on a desolate atoll -- a floating island of boats, barges, driftwood and debris.
