Universal City, California – The original movie sets from Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster film, “War of the Worlds” are now featured on Universal Studios Hollywood’s behind-the-scenes Studio Tour, the theme park’s signature attraction that catapults guests to The Entertainment Capital of L.A.
Guests aboard the popular Studio Tour tram ride will traverse a key scene from “War of the Worlds,” depicting a small town devastated by an elaborately choreographed 747 jetliner crash, dramatically surrounded by wreckage and debris.
In addition, Studio Tour guests will get up-close views of other movie sets located along the landscape that adjoins the “War of the Worlds” sets. These include the dinosaur-destroyed research laboratory compound from “Jurassic Park: The Lost World,” the snow-covered town of Whoville from “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” and the Psycho house and Bates motel from the classic thriller, “Psycho.”
The world-renowned Studio Tour, which takes guests on a 45-minute journey through Universal’s 415-acres of movie making magic, enjoyed dramatic enhancements recently, including new attractions showcasing “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” and “King Kong,” and the opportunity to see more working TV and movie sets than ever before, including the set from the top-rated “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.” Additionally, guests enjoy lively new video narration by Oscar® and Emmy®-winning superstar Whoopi Goldberg and “virtual studio guide” appearances from “Today” show star Al Roker, and “Access Hollywood” hosts Nancy O’Dell and Billy Bush.
The enhancements represent the most sweeping changes made to the Studio Tour in over a decade and the greatest number of new additions to the world-famous attraction since the first trams rolled along the landmark Universal backlot in 1964.
Additional highlights of the Studio Tour include a vast array of sets, themed streets, soundstages and facades featured in thousands of motion and television productions as well as signature special effects attractions such as “Earthquake,” Flash Flood” and “Jaws.”
Steven Spielberg’s “War of the Worlds” is a contemporary retelling of H.G. Wells’ groundbreaking science fiction classic, which reveals the extraordinary battle for the future of humankind through the eyes of one American family fighting to survive.
